2 parts rye whisky

½ -1 part sweet vermouth (or ¼ dry + ½ sweet)

1-2 dashes Angostura bitters (or orange or chocolate)

Maraschino cherry

Orange peel garnish

Add all the ingredients into a mixing glass with ice, and stir until well-chilled.

Strain into a chilled coupe.

Garnish with a brandied cherry.
